Amplified aerial standard?
Hi all,
I've been reading up on radios, dab, signals etc to solve a little thing I'm working on. Then I read that in most cases a rear-window aerial will have an amplifier. The text would suggest that am/fm aerials such as ours will most often be fitted with an amplifier to boost the signal. Does our car have that? Does our aerial have an amplifier? And how does the amplifier get powered?

They are amped, but you read an awful lot of threads about poor reception. For sure its no good for the dab mine only just copes with the radioguy fm radio.

Amplified aerials are generally no use for DAB, I'm working on something else for that. But if the rear windscreen aerial is amplified, it means there is a power going to it. This power is likely to be switched, but by what? And will the Navall unit still make it switch on, or is it needed to do some creative stuff to get it working again?

The aerial amplifier in the 75 saloon is located on the nearside D pilar.
The 75 tourer has the aerial amplifier located above the off side load window. The 12v supply to both types of aerial is located in the grey ISO plug, pin 5 purple/yellow. Dave T |

Thanks Dave. That is excellent. Just gonna double check my set up. The reception is okay-ish, but not as good as other cars I've had.
