Exclamation Head Light Washers

I can’t find the original post or the member who posted it but I would like to give them a massive THANK YOU for saving me time and money with it.
It works a treat and I now have fully working headlight washers without having to add the BBUS and a T4 session to turn them on.

Excellent work around , just remember they use an awful lot of water, that is why on the original set up they only operate on every 5th time you wash the screen with the lights on. Just keep an eye on the water level in the reservoir and all will be fine.

Yeah I read that at the time. I've only got them wired up ready for the MOT as they need to be working IF fitted. I've done it so I can simply disconnect the earth to the headlight washer pump so they will only be working for the MOT.

They don't need to be working for the MOT. Our cars are too old. They're only a testable item on cars first registered on 1st September 2009.

Also toaf can enable headlamp washers and the bbus alarm if you have the toaf software. Enabled headlamp washers on two of our cars when I retrofitted headlamp washers.

Alternatively you could fit a switch inside the car to enable/disable the headlamp washers.

Is there any point to headlight washers if there are no wipers?

Yeah as the amount of water that comes out of them will clear any mud or bugs off them with easy. Plus they cool the lens down with HID and Xenon blubs

I was going by what my MOT tester told me. Oh well I have the best of both worlds now with the way Ive got them set up. Can use them or not depending on the time of year I guess

I fitted an additional washer bottle from the 1.8 auto just to increase the washer capacity due to the headlamp washer usage. This bottle fits on the N/S of the engine bay.

Corin fitted a wiper stalk from a tourer (I have a saloon), and wired the rear wash function to activate my headlamp washers.

Thanks, I will have check what they do on my lights for cleaning. Looking at what happens with my windscreen I have always considered headlight washers without wipe to be a waste and pointless.
As for cooling, may be but you cant keep washing your headlights to cool them.

Headlamp washer jets are far more powerful than the windscreen ones. They do clear off dirt off the lenses. All factory fitted xenons have them as dirt on the lenses can deflect the beam making the light blinding for oncoming cars. No need to cool the lenses though.
