Why it has failed? Don't really know but would hazard a guess that if the car had been used for an extended time with a dead power motor seized in the closed position, then at high revs the volume of air might have forced the flaps open. And don’t bother trying the Chinese V6 manifolds, they look identical but a local member bought one in China and tried, unsuccessfully to fit it, sadly I never heard why it didn’t fit. Regards |

John,
it is possible a working power vis will subdue the noise on a worn manifold to an extent. worth trying if you have a working one.

A new motor for the moment has fixed the rattle noise. The old motor appeared to be jammed and had stripped the nylon gear.

Always nice when somebody comes back and reports an outcome. What will happen is the Vis motor will push or pull the flaps to the full extent of their travel and hence take up any slack in the joints. When the motor fails and the arm is midway then the flaps tend to be able to blow in the wind so to speak. Glad to have been of help
