But at least if you have a recent passport they can lift the picture from that.

Interestingly we have just decided to renew the wife's Driving licence despite the 11 month extension.
They have confirmed the renewal and it appears they have used the existing photo on her passport, which is the same one as is on her current driving licence.
So, in this case it certainly is just a moneymaking exercise!

I made the fatal mistake of having another picture done, another £10 shelled out for that, plus the £17 cheque i sent as the system would not let me change the address online due to the fact the photocard picture was of date. So, up to now this has cost me £27. I can now add on the cost of phone calls trying to get in touch with Swansea to find out when i can expect the license back. I did actually put my passport number in as well, should have thought about that and saved the tenner for Max Spielman!!!!

Another related Swansea issue i am having also is the renewal of my HGV / PSV license. I am on a 3 year restricted due to a minor health issue. Had a medical in May 2019, doctor passed me with no issues as far as he was concerned. Still waiting for the medical section to decide the outcome of this. Still, they keep sending me a Section 88, as they call it, a permit to drive, as long as the doctor does not say otherwise. Try to call them, no go, constantly engaged. The rate this is going, i will need another medical as 3 years would have gone by and i will be retired by then anyhow!!!!

Happy new year to all as well.

Regards,

Dave.

My licence ran out when the first lockdown was on, My picture was over 10 years old so I couldn't do it online as I had to update my picture, I took a recent passport style pic I used for my bus pass with me to the post office but that was refused, they said it has to taken digitally by the post office digital passport/drivers licence picture booth.

Only trouble was the post office booths near me were closed because of covid restrictions but I finally managed to find a post office around 10 miles away that was open for digital drivers pics.

Oh! I don't own a passport so couldn't go that route of lifting the pic & signature from it, it took over two months before it arrived through my letterbox.

Anybody any idea of how long this is taking now???

I have tried to ring them, only to be greeted by a continuous engaged tone, no email contact that works, don't really where to go with it now.

If anybody has had recent experience of this...........

Thanks, and a merry xmas to all.

Regards,

Dave.
Use e-mail or on-line chat. Had to do this as a V5c sent to them mid February had not been actioned after 6 months. Filled in a "lost" V5c chitty and also used the chat bot.

I am on the
"crumblies" 3 year renewal- Did it on line on the 7th Jan got the new one 13th Jan. Im a passport holder so they used that picture of me(10years old with a beard)! So if we ever do get to travel to the "continont" I wonder if the Border guards will be a bit sniffy about it, it does look like me though- still cant workout why none of my photographs make me look 23years old.
