Default Breaking/scrap V6190se 54 Plate

This is not a road that I particuarly want to travel but exploring all the options.

What do people think a 2004 V6190SE might be worth as scrap or to be dismantled. Everything works as long as you don't count the engine!! (camshaft snapped).

Was a cat C insurance write off, not accident damaged but morons smashed the dash to get the tv/sat nav (work to it described on this forum by another member from whom I bought it). I either get a new (used) engine or walk away from it.

Just looking for a ball park figure if anyone has gone down this route before or seen sales of this type.

Thanks all.

personally, (having seen Kandymans car with a similar fault), I would replace the cam shaft and see what happens. You may be lucky and the valves survived.

The valves "should" of hit. Thinking ahead the cam/s were dry and this needed to be investigated before the can of worms gets too deep.

For scrap you will maybe get £25 - £100... If you break the car I guess you could make as much as £2000.. Being an SE model your seats if in good condition will be worth £250 if full leather or £150ish for alcantara. Your Apex alloys are very saught after, you will get as much as £500 for these if the tyres are in good nick. You will also get good prices for the body pannels including the tailgate, front and rear bumpers with headlight washers and parking sensors.. Check out eBay for prices, or maybe Les at SMC would buy the whole car to break himself?

Default scrap?????

Allparts Auto breakers in bonnybridge, scotland. A huge breakers up here who have just sold 2 v6s . I know I was wanting the inlet manifolds ! Got to be some body near you can help !Stripping a car down takes a lot of time if you are waiting for some one to buy the last bits. The neighbours dont take too kindly either ! Agree with other post, scrap value is peanuts. Start being nice to mechanics !Surely breakers near you can offer engines with some warranty ?
Best of luck
Scott

replacement engine is always an option? you need to weigh up the costs - how much is the car worth - how much is the repair - how much will you get for breaking it? as said earlier, breaking a car takes a lot of time, and what will you do with the body shell if you do eventually get rid of most of the components worth selling? what you also need to think about is if you do break, you will have to get another car to replace it, and how much would you spend on that? bet its more than the repair! unless of corse you buy another mg or rover, then you might be able to buy a couple, and still have some change!

Having just broke my car it's not much fun seeing your car ending up like this, mine was a v reg if it was a good condition 2004 i would seriously look in to getting it back on the road.

rust on rear discs says it all, as km rather bluntly (but quite rightly) put it, seeing your once pride and joy in that condition is not a heartwarming feeling...
