Default Question Re plastic emergency key?

Does anybody know if it possible to use the plastic emergency key to start the car as well as open the drivers door?
Need a definitive answer to add or not to the Keys sticky in the main forum.

Thanks for your attention all.

According to the body electrics workbook 1999 the emergency slim key has a transponder chip in it so you can use it to start the car.

Very early on they were provided. Don't know when they stopped. Very few people have them or at least admit to having one.

Can't start the car with a picture, let alone open the door.

Might be useful to pad my post out a bit. Thanks.

They were still being provided in Oct 2000. One was supplied with my first 75 delivered in that month although I have no idea when the car was manufactured.
