Default CR80 not recognising cd autochanger

Good evening all. I have a CR80 which I'm assured was new/old stock having never been fitted. Certainly looks that way. The problem I have is that when fitted it plays great, bit of retro tape action going on but it does not recognise the cd autochanger at all. A CD80 I have works the auto changer no probs at all.

Is there a way to fix this that anyone knows of?

The CD80 and CR80 uses the same lead and the same changer.

The changer is controlled by the blue mini ISO plug in the back of the radio.

On the CR80 you keep pressing the "MODE" button until CD CHANGER appears in the display.

Do the steering wheel controls work as they should ??

Also, is the IVOX CR80 a MG Rover radio, because Ivox made the same radio for other car makers and the connections are slightly different.

Thanks Dave. The CR80 cycles through using the mode switch but only between radio and tape. No CD CHANGER option appears. Steering wheel controls work fine.

Is it an MG Rover one..... I can only guess that it is. I was told by the gent who sold me it that he had acquired it from a MGR dealer who was clearing the stockroom post collapse. The gent is a member on here and I've no reason to doubt him.

I'll double check the connections but I don't recall them being different when I've swapped them over.

I assumed it'd be plug and play. I wondered if they would have been differently programmed for cars that didn't have a cd autochanger.

If the steering wheel controls work then I would assume it is a MG Rover CR80.

It should be plug and play..

If the changer lead is secure in the back of the CR80 then there is possible a fault on the unit.

Changer lead.

Aah well. No worries then. Thankfully very easy to swap headunits over when I've worked my way through my box of tapes from my youth.

The fact that everything else works fine does lead me to the conclusion that the CR80 just doesn't like CDs. Might be stuck in the 80's as its name suggests.

Thanks for your help Dave. Much appreciated.
