Default Radio/HLNav swap question

Can I simply pull out my Alpine and push in my HLNav and have a working radio and information readout on the TV screen????? I like having the info on the screen.

I have an Alpine Symphony in my daily drive and a High Line Nav and TV in my donor car. The plan is to transfer the HLNav (and gubbins from the boot) to my daily drive for the satnav and trip, mpg and range readout on screen but I don't think I'll have time to do it in one go.

Well! I think I have answered my original question (after removing both units).
The wiring is completely different.

So is this actually possible?

It is, but it's a lot of work!

The Hi line head unit will not work without all the gubbins in the boot.

The best way to fit the Hi line system while continuing to have a workable radio.

Fit the brackets for the radio unit, tv unit, sat nav CD drive and the GPS aerial.

Fit the radio unit, tv unit and sat nav CD drive in the boot and also the wiring loom to the back seat on one day.

Fit the rest of the loom and the Hi Line head unit another day.

The Hi Line wiring is extra to the normal radio loom.

If your donor car is a older Mk1 then it will have a BMW connector for the radio/Hi Line loom.

You will have to check behind the air con or the ash tray for the BMW or ISO connector.

This is what you are looking for.

Have a read of this..

Reading through your link Dave I must be mad to even consider fitting the HLNav. I'll store the link away nice and safe like and do the job in the winter when SWMBO's list of "many things to do" isn't quite so long.

Cheers mate.
