Default Jargon/Acronym busting

I'm sure there a few folks here who have just started out in the world of car maintenance and pimpin' their 75/ZTs. No doubt they've never been overly fussed with dabbling with their old motors, that is, until they got their first 75... Now they've dived under the bonnet and into the world of the petrol head (sorry diesel owners) they're tripping over some new and strange sounding acronyms.

So calling all the 75/ZT veterans out there, could you enlighten us with some explainations for some of the commonly used terms found within these forums and help us newbies avoid some awkward blushes. As I'm writing this of course my mind goes blank *typical* so I can only manage to dibble out a few examples I come across in my recent postings.

BCU ?
ISTR ?
IIRC ?
"Bumping" (I know what this means)

I'm sure the are loads more. Have other folk found bits of Rover jargon etc they're not too sure about or us newbies would benefit from knowing?

Looking for Enlightenment

Well two out of three of those are nothing to do with cars.

BCU is Body Control Unit.

ISTR I seem to Remember.
IIRC if I remember correctly

They were poor examples ... I will hunt for more genuine ones

Sorry, my misunderstanding.

Try the links as there's been quite a thread on this.

I always have to apologise because I talk acronyms all day every day, and it's all this car stuff. If you think the stuff we talk on here is bad you want to try CAN, LIN, ZDC, MSG, FBS, WFS..... And to top it all off, the last four are German!
