Default Rover 75 Problems

I am experiencing serious problems with my 75 CDTI Auto Conn SE.
It is jerking violently when changing through the gears and on occassions slipping into neutral. It has become so bad we have had to take it off the road. The garage who have it changed a bottom engine mounting in May 2009 after a similar problem and this seemed to cure it. However it has now come back with a vengance. Can anybody shed any light please?

First thing to check with auto transmission is that the transmission fluid needs changing every 60,000 miles or I think 4 years. this must be done using the correct fluid not just a general auto box fluid.

What age is your car and what is the mileage? on the earlier jatco box there was a problem with one of the actuators I believe that was changed for a modified part at some point.

have you tried a battery off reset,? disconect battery for 15 mins and this will put all the ecu's including the gear box one back to default mode worth a try.

Hi David,

do you have any evidence that the transmission fluid has ever been changed, at that mileage it should have been done twice. this would be where I would start.

Many thanks once again, I will contact the Garage where my car has been for the last 6 weeks! and ask them to change the oil right away. I have no idea if the oil has been changed as you have suggested. It certainly wasn't at it's last oil & filter change at 126,000 miles.
