Thanks to DMGRS, I have my 190 with new thermostat, new injector O rings and have put it all back together. Fired up first time, a ticking noise quietened after it warned up and then sounded lovely!

Just a couple of minor jobs before the mot. Hopefully back on the road by the weekend!!

Painted my wiper arms in satin black and left them to dry on the washing line, ready to refit.

Refitted the plenum drain tube properly, easier (relatively) to access from underneath and found it better to locate the bottom flange first and then fit the top one.

Noted that there is a bit of rust on one of the plenum closing panels, but it's the passenger side so will need to remove the battery box at some point to remove and clean up the panel

Fitted better wheel arch liners, having removed a good number of cobwebs underneath the arches and hosed down the accumulated mud and unblocked the sunroof drain.

A very worthwhile job, its surprising how much muck gets inside isn't it!

I sometimes wonder if wheel arch liners cause more problems than they are designed to solve?

I've only removed the front ones at the moment to change them as they both had pieces broken off where the wheel arch trim screws on to, so I couldn't fit all the screws - only a minor thing but it annoyed me.

I will remove the rear ones next once I've ordered some Dinitrol or similar wax treatment to do all the areas behind them.

I have found that the drivers side of the car rusts more in the wheel arch area than the passenger side at the rear, you would expect it to be the other way around with the standing water in the nearside of the road..?

Dropped it into my local MG specialist for a service, identified the niggling intermittent misfire as number 4 cylinder coil pack at fault, that replaced and new plugs seems to have made a difference.

Yesterday evening refitted my newly painted scuttle panel and wiper arms, along with a new rubber to replace the previous mouse damaged one. Having been out in the rain today found the driver's wiper just hitting the pillar trim so although I marked the position when I removed the arms it may have moved just a nat's when I tightened the nut up.

Thumbs up What I did with my Rover today....

Twas very cloudy out with intermittent sunshine, she needed a good clean after the holiday and copious amount of sand that found its way onto the floor ........so i gave her a thoroughy good hoover and polish .... showroom condition now .... so me thought clean and polish outside of car, but the weather dictated otherwise and started raining ... so a job waiting for tomorrow...

Thats where mine went recently. From memory Isn't there a conduit of some sort that runs into the car in that wheel arch?

Yes there is, and if you remove the back seat, you will probably find that you have a ‘tube’ that seems to support the rear seat on the drivers side. This carries the gubbins from the rear wheel arch to the front of the seat underneath and round to where the tube ends. You may find that the ‘tube’ has rortted away and let water into the rear from under the seat. I took all the rotten metal away and then sprayed some expanding foam from inside towards the wheel arch until it came out in the wheel arch. Two days later I cleaned up that which had come through into the arch, and then put two layers of under seal on it.
