Default H7 Nearside Dipped Beam replacement -bulb warning

Hi forumites, driving back from Scotland last night my nearside dipped beam failed, and had the usual warning light indication on the message board.
I opened up and replaced the bulb today, and it's still U/S
I sprayed the connector with a contact cleaner, to no avail.

I did change the Offside equivalent about a fortnight ago, and had no problems.

Is there any potential for a failure in the wiring loom or anything otherwise ?
I'm not an electrical wizard, but can at least have a go at most things
Going to need this fixing over the weekend as I have to head back north next week

There is a weak spot on the loom but before you investigate that try bench testing the bulb. See my post: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=279150 T'was those pesky gremlins again, but never dared to reappear.

Regards

Thanks Vitesse, Is it a jack up and dig around from under the bumper to follow that loom from the nearside ?
From your photo I can easily see the Washer bottle, and indicates it's on the offside
if you can point me in the right direction that'd be great

Bumper off and headlights out to be sure. The first image of the chassis leg was.my car, and the broken wire was hidden below the headlight unit. It was not visible from any other angle.

Let's go back to post 2, "try bench testing the bulb " - would be a shame to do all that work and find it was a dodgy bulb, and note that my problem was a gremlin issue, nothing to do with frayed wiring - only added that to answer your question.

As Mike says above, test the bulb. (I misread your initial post as you had tried it with the other bulb). Try the new bulb in offside, and the offside (known working) in the nearside.

I had exactly the same thing. It turned out to be a bad contact in the plug on the light switch unit.

I cleaned the pins and gave it a touch of WD 40. Cured the problem and has been OK for several years now.---

Thanks, already done that so I know it's not a bad'un ;-)
The journey I was on was exceptionally wet, and was wondering whether that might have affected the loom at all, if there is a lot of moisture within the front of the bay.
Everything behind the rubber cap was nice and dry though.
At some point in the past the plastic "doors" in the wheel arches have been lost though :-(

No inspection hatch covers - you’re making life too easy for the gremlins and more difficult for you.

Sorry, but as poster “cif” has stated, bumper off job: clean, inspect & finally make watertight by replacing the covers. Could also be a poor connection on the light switch module as Colvert & I have experience, but if you don't replace those hatches ...
