It's official! The HWF Virtual Car Display is GO!!!

Please feel free to post photos of your pride and joy at our Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/hwfcarshow20

Posts will be checked by admin, and we would ask that you blank out your registration numbers before posting. Pictures of the cars in Festive or simply picturesque surroundings will be most welcome.

For this year, the entire festival has moved online, including a number of the retailers and the Christmas market. So please visit the website and help support so many of the businesses that have made the Festival what it is over the last 8 years.

Happy posting!

Press release regarding this year's Festival. To say that we are gutted is an uinderstatement. However, a "virtual" car display is planned via the Festival Facebook page, I will post up details when I know more.

The Helensburgh Winter Festival Penguin Crew are very sad to announce that they have taken the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s festival ...
The Winter Festival which has been part of the Helensburgh and Lomond Festive Season since 2012 is the latest victim of the Covid 19 pandemic.
It had become clear that the task of maintaining social distancing and keeping everyone safe was simply impossible and there was also uncertainty around the entertainment, kiddies rides, live entertainment, the Santa Dash and Santa’s Grotto all of which led to the committee taking their most difficult decision ever.
Chairman Councillor Lorna Douglas said: ”We held off making the decision as long as we could but when we considered the task of maintaining social distancing and keeping everyone safe it became clear that we would not be able to do it.
“We would likely be classed as a mass gathering as it’s not possible (or intentional) for us to control visitor numbers or self-distancing. This can only take place in Phase 4 and as yet there is no indication of when this might happen.”
She continued: “We are, however, considering how we can keep the spirit of our festival alive in a virtual way and we will be announcing the results of our deliberations in due course.
“Anyone who has any ideas or suggestions will be very welcome to contact us through our website: https://www.helensburghwinterfestival.co.uk/ or message us via our Facebook page.”
Lorna added: “The Penguin is devastated but wants to assure his many fans that he will be back.”
The Winter Festival was set up in 2012 when Argyll and Bute Council, agreed to give financial support for thee years and after attempts to join the Helensburgh Highland Games and the Bi-Centenary Pipeband Championships into one weekend failed.
Since then the festival has grown and now attracts visitors from all over the West of Scotland and beyond. It has become a charitable organisation and is well on the way to self-sufficiency. If anyone would like to make a small donation towards next year’s festival, they can do so via our website https://www.helensburghwinterfestival.co.uk
