Electric Fan problem solved . Big thanks
Houston we have lift off.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the guys on here that helped me diagnose the problem I was having. Story so far: After a long journey back home my Rover 75 T suddenly started to over heat to such an extent I had to pull over.. I let it cool down and continued my short journey home on closer inspection I found that the fan blades had come off....I managed after some time to take the front off and re attached the blade with self tappers (tip from the forum) On taking further advise from the forum I started the car with the demister on the fan motor ran well I doubled check again and disconnected the temp sensor (tip from the forum) again fan motor ran well. I as relieved to hear the sensor on the fan cowling as ok at this stage (tip from the forum). But I still was very nervous about this overheating...having nightmares about waterpump/thermostat/electrical problems even if I had done damage to the turbo. On asking the forum again I had completely forgot about the OBC...I ran a check as advised I could not drive as the car is now on sorn..so on the drive I let it run for 20 mins the temp went up to 85 then I waited with bated breath to see what would happen at 104 degrees. .Low and behold the fan came in right on the button. cooled the engine down to 92 and stopped...I was having thoughts about selling as spares because on spending over 6K on the car I did not want to spend anymore as I now have a new car....But now I have a car thats worth something...going to MOT next month when its due and sell it maybe or even keep it..as they are going up in value. So thanks again every one |

Well done.
Just out of interest what have you spent 6 grand on? That's quite a substantial amount. |

Thanks. Your 1.8T has only one fuel pump Bill, it's extremely reliable and Rimmer's price is £92 yet you say you were charged £776! I'm not surprised that you feel aggrieved at the bills with which you've been presented.

Thanks for the breakdown.
I must apologise I didn't mean or expect to put you to the amount of trouble that you've gone to listing all all those items. I thought that you'd spent that much just recently not over a period of 5 years and was a little curious as to what difficulties or components cost so much to repair. I must confess that my eyebrows raised a little at the cost of the fuel pump renewal as well. |

Bill,
There's a specific forum section for members' cars for sale. I'd place it there, with a good photographs of exterior and interior and don't forget to decide on an asking price. Simon PS You may need to become a subscribed member but it's a nominal amount.

That list certainly makes me glad l can do the more simplistic tasks myself.
Mind you, l have a P6 & my A60 estate both farmed out for work including engine changes at the moment so l'm not immune from all expenses as the work is adding up. It's not all work that l couldn't do myself but when l was realistic with myself l decided that even with my mechanic friend's help, l simply didn't have the time to get the various jobs both wanted & needed done, so unless l bit the bullet l would never end up with my little fleet being in a mobile state. Especially as the P6 is having a few modifications carried out too including PAS & a five speed LT77 being fitted. After that my P5B will be the last one to be attended too but l think we'll be doing most of that. So it is quite an expensive period but it should only be the once & l don't envisage buying any more cars to add to the collection. Probably.
