Thanks Sean.
11 spokes are a nice wheel (even though perhaps better suited to a mk2 than a mk1). Not that easy to get a decent set any more - especially over here.. Cheers, Karl. |

So the company with a good reputation who kept you informed of any issues (rather than hide it ), did a great job that you’re happy with.
Nice to hear...

Is that the worst wheel to be used as a spare? I wouldn't be happy with those if I were a paying customer, the first pictures you posted up showed pinholes, these haven't been filled, and the top coat applied with dust in the finish. It looks typical of a "that'll do, it's only an old car" approach by the refurbishment company. You will also need to paint the bare alloy on the wheel flange before you fit them, otherwise they will corrode badly and weld themselves to the hub. Brian |

Yeah, that's the worst one, Brian (for spare).
Thanks for the info re the inner flanges - I'll get those bits coated in grease or Dynax before fitting (wouldn't want to invalidate the 12-month paint warranty by doing my own painting - if corrosion starts there or anywhere else, they WILL be doing them again - all 4 hubs / brake discs on the car are brand new too). Cheers, Karl. |
