Window advice please
So, finally my front drivers ( lhd ) window mechanism has given up the ghost. One of the cables has snapped.
I'm off to Blighty for a few days and I'll be leaving the car at the airport so dont have time to repair ( an email will be winging its way to Mickeyboy for a new window mechanism ). I can push the window up to pretty much closed. It seems OK ie it doesnt feel like it will slip down but is there a good way of securing it up so that the merest bump wont send it clattering into the door and leave me exposed? I don't fancy trying to remove the door card etc at the airport or whatever. Cheers Dave |

When my rear window parted company I just used a good length of duct tape on the window and then back down over the top of the door frame.
Not too sure about the front windows but if it were the rears I'd say the cable hasn't snapped but rather the plastic clip has. Available at any VW dealer. Regards |

A forked piece of wood worked well for me on the way back from Switzerland years ago on my Granada!

Stick a couple of wedges in the top of the door card and window, it should hold it enough to stop it from dropping down, you can use clothes pegs

I was just thinking that anything used needs to be fairly discrete so as to make it not too obvious ,as you are leaving it in a car park.
