Default Sat Nav disc

Does anyone know if there is a compatible Satnav disc for our cars later than 2015? If so where are they on sale.

The original MKII and MKIII navigation computers are CD-based and the 2014-2015 disc is the latest available.

If you upgrade to a DVD-based BMW MKIV navigation computer, these can can accept maps up to 2019-2020 and have the benefit of 3D-perspective maps and split-screen navigation.

Many thanks for that - how difficult/easy is an upgrade to a DVD set up?

Is it a plug and play swop out with the existing unit in the boot?

BMW versions (from E39/46 or 54 models up to about 2006/7) are on the internet, just be sure the facia has 'DVD' somewhere on it. They suffer from laser scanner head failure just like the CD versions so make sure it is in working condition (new laser head units are also available, originally from Japan, mine came from China for around £20), works fine but bit of a fiddle to fit.

Yes, as rab60bit says it’s a straight swap from the original unit. The MK4 units have a much more modern interface and if upgraded to the latest version can have split navigation (map and directions), 3D perspective view, partial postcode search and TMS. You’ll need the “BMW High 2019” DVD maps to go with it, but CDs from older MK3 will work.

Cheers for that - am in two minds to keep the original "quaint" display.
