Auto gear select loose
Any ideas here, my auto gearbox selector lever is kind of loose, it does engage all gears but it has a lot of free play, has anybody ever found a cure for this?

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.

Check
Can you engage all the gears without using the button required for selecting reverse and park? If so it is not fully engaged into slot on lever.
Solution is to put into neutral and knock it firmly downwards. When engaged it will not move freely without compressing button at front of gear lever. Chris |

Yes you have to press the button to get a gear, once it's in gear (any gear) there is a lot of free play back and forward, I tried giving it a thump down in neutral but it made no difference.
