Default Oil in Coolant (Diesel MK2 Auto)

I looked at a 75 before I went away for a few days which will be good to save. That I might get when I get back.

It is a Mk2 tourer diesel Auto. When I looked at the car had been running awhile but the temp was not midway and no heat. When I removed the expansion cap the coolant was a dirty black colour and overflowing and definitely had oil (well bits) in there. Not being an expert on diesals I assume that it could be the oil cooler i.e this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-2...MAAOSwU-pXqg04.

Any advice and if that is it easy to sort. It looks like it would take some cleaning out.....

the temp gauge not going up to half way is probably due to a stuck thermostat. Inline thermostat mod should sort that. not sure about the oil in coolant issue though not come across that on a diesel before.

Sounds like a damaged oil cooler....

That item is an automatic gearbox trans fluid cooler and not an engine oil cooler as in your issue....
