looks like a Good project - it would be boring if we bought them all "Sorted" - it's an "opportunity" when you buy a car like this - lots of nice wee jobs to get done and, it's satisfying to do so

I like the Contemporary 75

I hadn't thought of that, I bet you're right.

Well while I was waiting for the crankshaft pulley to arrive I got the car in the shed and started to strip back the rear.

I got the seat bottom in the house and started giving it a good clean with Autoglym leather cleaner. Straight away it started to make a massive difference (nearest half of seat cleaned)

It's pretty much there now, but the crankshaft pulley has just arrived and I'm itching to go and fit it, so I'll carry on with this later.

P.S. it's nice to know that the ironing board has another use as a bench squab support

Have fun and if it's outside, first fix the sunroof drains issue (it's that p..s poor MGR line solution for joining two bits of rubber - couple of straight tube unions did the trick for me) otherwise you've also got yourself a small paddling pool with A/C
I've had a thorough read of the sunroof 'how to' and am definitely going to use some pipe connectors/unions! Now the car is in the shed I can afford to spend plenty of time drying it out and doing the job properly.

It's a great colour isn't it! After a polish and wax it'll come up great.

Fantastic colour and well done to you saving it, it could easily have ended up in bits. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

So today I've continued stripping out the interior, only got the boot trim left to remove. The amount of water in there was ridiculous, I sponged a gallon out from the rear footwell and there must have been at least twice that soaked up in the foam under the carpet... I've spent this evening cleaning lots of pieces of trim making them look new again, it's going to be like reassembling a new car afterwards!

When I was removing the centre console I found this wire behind the switch panel? Any ideas what it might be for? It's probable it doesn't go anywhere, but on my saloon that switch is for the rear blind, or traction control on the other side.

Also gave the driver's seat a good cleaning, and impressed with the results - I'll get some more photos up tomorrow on the progress. So tomorrow will be more cleaning of trim pieces and stripping out the boot, then I can do the proper sunroof mod.

The plugs tend to be colour coded - what colour is it ?

the plug will be rear blind or traction control seeing as you have cruise and heated seats already in there

Maybe the connections to the 'smart nav' service button.

Yes I nearly bought it a couple of months ago and went to see it as it was close. Will be great when sorted, the back was soaked then so I assume it is sunroof drains rather than the transporter.

Cat D but I could not tell why so assume superficial damage. The only real issue was the oil in the overflow tank etc but I am sure it can be sorted quite easily.

Good look a good one to save.
