Any chance the suppliers can do heated tailgate glass?

No clue really. You could ask them: Ricky Evans Motorsport. Isn't the glass on the tourer standard heated? Wouldn't a second hand one, or a genuine replacer by cheaper?

Genuine repalcements haven't been available for some time and working used ones are getting harder and harder to find

Keep it BriLeyMoCo!

On a more serious (but less affordable) note, the screens we've just had were actually made by Xinyi Glass (XYG) and if I'm reading the origin code correctly (E1) were made in Germany.

If Ricky Evans can't/won't do the rears then it may be worthwhile getting in touch with XyG and seeing about a group/bulk buy.

I had my heated screen fitted today, it took them about 1.5 hours.

No problem with it being to narrow but the fitter did find it odd the interior mirror attachment and rain sensor fitting were not in place, he reckoned these are usually attached by the screen supplier/manufacturer.

He removed the interior mirror fixing from my old screen and glued it onto the new one but the rain sensor fitting refused to come off without damaging it so I have ordered a new one and that should be here by Friday. He suggested if anybody else is having a screen fitted with auto wipers they obtain a new rain sensor bracket as it is easier to fit with the screen out of the car.

My plan is to wire it up so it is live with the rear screen but only stays on for about 2 mins. I have obtained an adjustable time delay relay and this will fire a 40amp relay. The idea if this is so I dot have to fit another switch and in truth if I need the rear screen on I probably need the front screen on, the reason for the shorter time is if you look at genuine fit this is normally the time they set, as I have an adjustable relay I can fine tune it.

The windscreen fitter seemed to think the quality of the screen was good and a lot better than some of the Chinese screens he has had to fit.

Dan Evans of Evans Motorsport dropped a screen off to me today for Vinnie and was having a chat. I mentioned rear screens for a tourer and he seemed to think it would not be a problem as long as there was demand for about 10.

Tooling is between £1000 and £1500 but split between a few then should not be too bad. Also I believe the tooling becomes the property of the group.

Did a quick search on the Autoglass website for rear Tourer glass, and it seemed to suggest they could replace it without issue. Maybe worth a try for anyone in need.

It's because the heating elements aren't working (well the top two are). When National Windscreens did my windscreen last year they rang head office and said the only rear ones they had were used and they couldn't guarantee the heater would work.
