You are not alone!

For a quick temporary fix, remove fuse F10 in the engine bay fusebox

Might well be a K-Bus fault, has a aftermarket stereo been fitted at some point, as if you tap into the K-bus wire for a power source you could get wipers that sweep after the ignition is switched off.

Hi Mickey,I think we have solved the issue, had water in the boot, the old plugs from the anologue tv/sat nav system although not connected to anything must still be active, they had got wet, cleaned and dried them, now back to normal, now to solve the boot leak, poured water down drain channel but cant see any water getting in,thanks for your help............Tom.

Could be the side chrome finisher trims letting water in through the clips? I read that this can be a problem i believe or most common is rear light seals
