I have some course notes somewhere which states the vin number change to mk2. It has been posted before so maybe worth a search.
I've just noticed that the search option isn't working at the moment

Mine is 322477 and is the 760th built, so I was wondering if the numbers are concurrent ? so is number 321717 the first? Or is it not that simple ?

I own this one https://www.whatcar.com/rover/75/saloon/used-review/ whch was built for the Mk2 review in Twilight and I assume was quite early. It oddly has 6 button's on the lower dash, the 5 normal ones then underneath in the drivers cup holder blank the button for smartnav. It also has drivers side manual high adjustment etc.

On the boot is what looked like the start of rust but reading through a post from the original owner in 2005 it was always there. It is where the key hole on the MK1 boot is so it was filled and re-painted to become a Mk2 boot. Not sure how early it is in production

Very interesting vehicle , looks very nice indeed. Strange though , that it is a connoisseur but has front fogs and painted waist trim which is contemporary spec ? The lock hole on the boot is interesting too, could it be a mk1 made into a mk2 by mgr for launch purposes? ? What type of seats does it have and are the map pockets the hard earlier type or the softer later type ? I love these mgr models that could be development or prototype models ? It's like a big puzzle they left us to work out
