Default Thanks to Andy Willli and Big Russs

Picked up my zt today after the engine self destructing last week. Andy came round same day and diagnosed the issue. Had the car collected Wed and by this afternoon it had the 190 engine from his old car in. As it was a 160 originally Russ came down today and sorted the ecu out and gave it a thorough t4 check.

Whilst doing the engine Andy has replaced the knackered radiator, put a new clutch in and sorted a few other issues at no extra cost.

Cars runs superbly now and goes like a rocket

thanks here are some pictures of the engine i removed , apparently the cambelts had been replaced.
the only thing i found new was the belt ,
the failure was down to the bolt holding the front exhaust cam pulley failing,

was the bolt replaced i don't think so !

when you do this job do it right and replace everything , this is a unfortunate bad repair and it can happen to you if you don't know who you are dealing with when getting the biggest job on your engine done.

i also found the oil cooler bypassed and the pipes kinked so slowing down flow in the cooling system (not good ) the thermostat was failing , the clutch plate was worn .

so i replaced the engine , fitted a new clutch drive plate , replaced the front lower coolant pipes and a good oil cooler ,fitted a good radiator . fitted a new front timing belt and water pump changed oil and filter , them got russ in he t4 everything and all was good , the only problem was could not get the air out of the PAS pump but will sort it out soon .

the car was purchased with steve knowing the belts had been replaced .

I think that you meant to say "inlet cam pulley" failing didn't you Andy. The exhaust cam is behind the plastic cap to the right in the photograph.

I doubt that the failure was due to refitting the original bolts. My originals were absolutely perfect. I suspect that the service tools weren't used and maybe the bolt wasn't tightened to the specified torque or it was used to counteract the loosening of the rear sprocket wheel. After all, we know that when the special tools are used these failures do not occur.
