Default Dremel shaft lock

As some of you may know, the shaft lock (basically a push button operated pin) on the smaller dremels, can become worn, which means that the shaft can't be locked to get the fittings out. When I stripped mine to have a look, it was rounded off. New ones can be anything from £10 - 20, half the price of a dremel. I looked at it and thought how it reminded me of a pop rivet. Guess what? They are very similar. With a file and a hacksaw, I modified a rivet in about two minutes, to fit!

Not sure how long it will last but......................

My button is totally missing.

I use a small screwdriver to put into the slot as I'm not engineer minded LOL

I wouldn't know how to go about getting a pop rivet to work

I was going to say the same as it's how my extension works on my fake dremel

Good spot tho - I see what you mean with the shape being similar to a rivet!

They are less than $3 in the US ! Why are we always charged more for tools and spares in the UK ?
