3 Cortinas
I had three Cortinas. One Mk4 which was a hideous green 1.6L I bought for £200 as a stop gap when other car was off the road. Despite the fact it was falling to bits I liked it. (Apart from the exhaust fumes entering the car when going up the Hilltown (aptly named) in Dundee.
That persuaded me to get a good one. First was a 1.6 GL a mint brown car that had briefly been a taxi. The guy had gone bust and sold car before the inevitable. Put in a Ghia Wood trimmed dash with Rev counter. Second one was a blue 2.0 Ghia. It was a very nice car indeed. Sold it to get a Dolomite 1750HL with 18000 on clock . The Cortinas were very good cars to drive and in Ghia trim very comfortable. One of my best pals from my young days (who us sadly no longer with us) had a couple of Capris. Frightened the living day lights out of my grandparents in it on the way home from my passing out parade when he hit 100mph in it . Fun times... Last edited by Astraeus; 10th March 2020 at 21:35.. |
