Default front wishbone rear bush

hi,
my front wishbone bushes are worn and need replacing.
i have bought 2 of these poly bushes to fit the original brackets.
any views or hints on fitment....
looking at the bush it has a rounded edge on one end would i be right in saying that would face the front of the car?

These look completely different from the usual PolyFlex system.

This appears to be a one part bush like the original rubber ones. Nobody has reported on these as far as I recall. The bushes shown in the HowTo are the standard two part system. I'm intrigued - and also have a sense of Deja Vu about it.

Yes these bushes are duraflex branded. I take it when I fit them in the housing the alignment of the centre will have to be right? The powerfex 2 part bush will spin in the centre if you know what I mean. Did that make sense

Yes I understand. This also struck me about the one piece system. How do you fit the bush into the metal carrier and ensure that the hex receiver/hole for the end of the arm is positioned correctly? I would assume the OEM moulded-on rubber bushes are jigged to get this correct. Obviously the arm will go in by raising or lowering it to mate up the hex end and hex hole, but might this result in an over-stressed bush when the car is on the wheels?

Hi TC
These have been doing the round for quite a time now, they are a pig to press into the mount once you have removed the original mount, that is unless you have a large vice or press.

I should imagine if enough rubber grease as been used and the position of the hexagon is not right, you could push it on the end of the lower arm and it would rotate round to the correct position ? at this I am only guesstimating as I have not fitted any, someone did at the nano but said he would not want to do it again.

The best poly ones that I came across was the ones that were doing the rounds a couple of years back picture below easy to fit and could be serviced with grease each year.

Such a shame they came to nothing.

I suppose it might, but then the presence of the lube around the outer circumference would encouage it to turn with the arm when driving. That would negate the reason for fitting a solid bush anyway and might well wear it out pretty quicky. I think the op should ask the supplier for details on how these are actually fitted. In my view, they aren't at all logical, unlike the PolyFlex system.

Interesting reading thanks for the reply's.
I will mark the outer casing so I can line up the hexagon when the bush is being fitted. I have access to a press to fit the bushes. What is the recommendation for grease to use? Copper grease?
When the bush is fitted into the housing if it is able to rotate it wouldn't matter about hexagon alignment but as you say it would wear out quicker

Have just emailed the seller and asked the question...

For pressing the bush into housing, I wouldn't use any sort of grease at all. Using a hydraulic press, soapy water will be sufficient to lube it. Once fitted, the bush must be rock solid in the housing. Any grease between them will be counterproductive I'd say. As to your original question, I doubt it makes any difference which way the coned end faces. Unless that is, the bushes are handed in some other way. The supplier should have provided fitting details.

well just an update.
had to replace my front wishbone rear bushes today...
the poly bushes i bought above had failed.
there was no play in the bushes but they had gone sloppy.
when i removed them from the bottom arm the bushes were really soft.
driving the car had got slowly worse and gong around corners felt like you were in a motorboat.
should have fitted oem in the 1st place it feels like driving a new car again.
should have listened to you guys 1st.
