Subwoofer woes
Hi All.
I just fitted the HK wiring loom I got from MGStephen to Mo. I have a CD-80. I plugged the original brown and grey connectors into the large black connector on the HK loom, then the HK looms brown and grey connectors into the back of the head. I snipped the steering wheel control wires off the old yellow/blue/green connector, and fastened them to the new y/b/g connector. The steering wheel controls work, The CD changer works, radio works, sound from all speakers, but no sound from the sub. So what do I do next? Thank you

Been looking at some videos.
Is there a secret menu on the cd-80 that will add a subwoofer on/off option? Thank you.

I havent done this, but you dont mention an amp. To run the sub, you would need this connected. If it is, is there power going to it, and it switching on with the stereo?

Sorry, should've said.
Yes there is an amp, but no idea if it's switching on. There is now a click in the speakers when I put the stereo on, which wasn't there before I did this, but there isn't a light on the amp to say it's working. I've read the sticky, and it talks about snipping and reconnecting wires. Don't know if that is what I need to do. EDIT - also, I have used all the connectors that were on the HK loom except the steering wheel controls one. I used the old wires added to the new block for that, so nothings missing

Check that there is a switched output connected to pin 5 of the grey ISO connector - it is the feed to the amp & sub.

Thanks. I know there's one empty pin, I'll see if I can find out which number it is. If not, I'll take a piccie.

Right then. Sorry for the delay.
Grey connector. On the line with the green/white wire at the left end, the next pin has a brown/yellow wire, the next pin is empty, and the last wire is grey green. All other pins have wires. All 8 brown connector pins have wires too. the yellow/green/blue connector has quite a few wires from it. looking at the back where the wires come out, and yellow block on the left, the wiring is - yellow block - middle row, right hand pin, yellow/purple wire green block - middle row, right hand pin, blue/purple wire bottom rown, right hand pin, blue/orange wire. these are the wires for the steering wheel controls and I've already connected the existing wires to these and the controls work fine. Blue block - top row, brown - yellow - white wires middle row, orange - black wires bottom row, green - red - blue wires so all pins wired. And now a new problem. I have been out today and discovered that Kims hi-line radio tuner doesn't work because all the connectors, incliding the aerial, are heavily rusted. My guess is that the tuner itself has probably burnt out inside. I found a thread on here from 2013, where someone with a damaged hi-line radio unit is told that a BMW BM24 unit is a straight swap. I have a spare radio unit, but it is a BMW BM54 unit. And on top of that, the hi-line unit has a 5amp fuse, but the spare has a 10amp fuse. Can I replace the damaged radio tuner with the other one without any major heartache? Thank you, Adrian.

In the grey connector, Light Green/White should be pin 7, next to it should be Purple/Yellow, pin 5 - that is the feed to the amp and sub when the stereo is switched on.

Ok thank you.
So the numbering goes up and down rather than along one row then along the other. Bit confusing. so I'll check the wire again, it looked brown and yellow, so I'll take the magnifying glass out and see if it's actually purple and yellow. I'll then check the wiring to the amp connectors.
