Ok going on a longer trip tomorrow. How much of a job is taking the crank covers off? And what seals etc should I get in stock ready to have a look.
There is not mayo everywhere and the dip stick is nice and clean and there is nothing in the crank case itself. My first thought was condensation but its taking a while to clear although as its not my main car it does sit a while Ta |

Hi Dave, when I used to run with a catch tank on, the residue collected was very watery, cross between cold tea and a blended scotch. From what I have seen all were of this consistency.

thanks guys; smelly tea is a good description
long fast trip today; 400 miles no coolant used and perfect running some smelly tea collected! will run this week daily and see if I can stop the tea flow! think it must just be condensate in that case one of the guys has found me a cooler in any case and I will probably change mine at some point as it has an oil leak! |

That's my feeling too Dave; condensation forming in the cold metal tank in winter temperatures. I say this because I have fitted a standard plastic encapsulated paper fuel filter in my breather hose so that I can see what is collected. I have a little black oil in there but no identifiable water.

To be honest, most Rimmers prices are quite fair. some are a little dearer, but on the whole pretty competitive. |
