Over the years I've been an 'advanced driver', a motor cycle trainer and examiner and, continually, an awestruck observer of blatantly bad driving manners.
Had one speeding (motor cycle) conviction (Plymouth - 1982). I was trying to catch and retrieve a wayward pupil who had taken a detour from the (pre-discussed) route. Caught up later with the other three guys in a pub car park on the Hoe. All laughing. A speed limit warning sign means DO NOT.... etc. Obscure or not your local council has an obligation to ensure that all road signs are clearly seen but they are not liable. You probably know it's your own fault, and that is entirely the point - not necessarily to penalise but to educate - about awareness. Enjoy your driving, take your time and see more.

Precisely. On my bike, I never ride above 65MPH. Why deprive others of the pleasure of admiring the sound of a large V-twin and the impact of all the polished chrome accessories? Ditto the cars - the Jag for example, the fine lines of the crafted XF-S body kit, the 'Black' spec etc. It would be criminal to deprive other road users the pleasure of experiencing such beauty.

Well wife's jury summons has arrived. They say it should only be 10 days, so not too bad, but there are a couple of caveats to that.
There's no getting out of it, neither will it be a ball. Last edited by Borg Warner; 21st February 2022 at 23:28.. |

Your wife may not be called even while waiting at court. A friend of mine wasted two weeks waiting to be called. Still she will get fed and watered while there. Best of luck to her.

I have done two stints of Jury service at Worcester Crown court and found both very informative and what struck me in both cases, and I think I can say this without revealing anything how the jury considered the case, was how seriously every one took the task . In both cases we did one session lasting about a week and were discharged

With the backlog due to covid reckon she will be called. Just hope it's nothing too serious. One of my favourite films is 12 angry men. If there were ever a 21st PC remake she'd be the a character similar to Henry Fonda. Thanks for the good luck by the way. |

Travelled the A14 yesterday both directions through around 8 miles of roadworks either side off the carrige way.
East bound the limit was 50mph, which I observed No one working and I was passed numerous time as if the limit was not there. Two of them were hgvs. West bound it starts off at 50mph then drops to 40mph. Again I stuck to the limit, again I was passed numerous times. Again no workmen. Probably working at night. Oh for speed cameras. Genuinely. |

I am sure she will see a side of life that normally you only read about.

At that speed, I imagine that your bike is a 125cc.
If not, what a waste of a machine capability. How can you make progress and achieve safe overtakes?
