Agreed with what has already been said Rich.
You've done so well in your recovery. Keep it up, get that Op out the way and it will come Boss.

Yesterday had some bad news.

Dad phoned me to say that his best friend from his Navy days and someone who my Brother and I have always considered our 'Uncle' has sadly passed away.
'Uncle' Tanzy has been in poor health for some time with various problems and these all caught up with him Monday evening.

Tanzy lost his wife 'Aunty Eileen' about 10 years ago and he has never really got over the loss.

After Tanzy left the Navy Eileen and himself bought a Hotel in Blackpool and that was their life until they sold up and retired (still in Blackpool).
Not long after they retired Eileen was in their loft at home and fell from the loft ladder. She was taken to hospital for x-rays and it was from those that it was discovered she had advanced breast cancer.
She bravely went through lots of treatment over the next year but sadly the cancer had spread too far and she passed away.

Tanzy and Eileen were very well known members of the community in Blackpool in the running of their hotel and it was widely used for many functions for locals as well as holiday makers.

We as kids spent most of our holidays with Mum & Dad staying at the Hotel and when Tanzy, Eileen and their two daughters (our 'cousins') had time away from running the Hotel they would come and stay down here with us.
Such treasured memories that will always be with us.

Eileen's funeral was like nothing I had seen before. There were hundreds of people in attendance. It was like a state funeral!

Tanzy and Eileen had worked hard all their lives and had plans to see the world on their retirement. Fate cruelly took that away from them.

Tanzy's health has gotten the better of him these last few years and we know he just wanted to make sure his Daughters and Grand Children were all going to be okay. Once he knew that I think he knew it was time to let go so he could be with his beloved Eileen once more.

My Dad was in bits yesterday when he called me to let me know. He'd only spoken to Tanzy the day before and could tell that he was giving up the fight.

This is the last picture I took of Tanzy and my Dad from about six years ago...

RIP Tanzy, give Eileen lots of hugs and kisses up there from us all...

Glanced out the window before bed, very heavy snow/sleet. It can do whatever it wants while I'm sleeping.

Morning all,

Just cleared the snow from the wife's car to allow her to take the kids to school.

Morning all.

We’ve nothing like the weather you folks are getting .

It's a bit damp and dismal, and it's gone cold but certainly not dreadful.

Sorry to hear your news Jeff. Treasure those happy memories.

Visited Shugborough Estate yesterday - Lord Lichfield's place. It was bright and sunny but rather breezy . Some areas were closed off due to flooding.

https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/shugborough-estate

I was amazed when Quizzie took absolutely no notice of the sheep that were grazing. Yes, she was on lead, but didn't seem interested at all. Most unlike her.

And I discovered that Lady Lichfield used a "Rover 75" as her car

https://www.search.staffspasttrack.o...pe=2&ThemeID=5

It's parked up, in its garage next to the cafe (now, what would I be doing near there I wonder..... popping to the loo, obviously ). There are no plans to restore her as she's too many parts that are beyond saving.

Take care everyone.
