Well, if he is given a way out perhaps some of the coterie around him will subsequently decide that it's time that he was retired to a secure dacha to avoid further mishaps of this kind.
It looks like a sizable chunk of the population have already reached that conclusion.

War between NATO and Russia needs to be averted. At some point serious negotiations will happen. Putin needs to be given some territory so that he can justify what he’s done to the Russian people. Crimea and those small eastern parts of Ukraine no doubt will be ceded to Russia. NATO needs to build up its forces and preparedness to use them in the NATO countries in Eastern Europe. If you back Putin into a loose loose corner, you are courting disaster on a nuclear scale. The US has no appetite for a conflict with Russia. We need to be sensible about this situation and stop talking about no fly zones.

Been over Lakenheath quite low it seems.

Apparently the F35s recently posted there are going to Estonia.

I agree with your sentiment on Putin regarding being cornered. However, there have been serious talks, he already took Crimea 8 years ago, and the eastern states are Russian in all but name.

I dont have a solution, but your theory is naive and is not original either. It also requires trust, and Putin is a proven.liar, unless you believe his narrative of liberating the Ukrainian people? Remember he was withdrawing troops and how he had to intention of invading but 2 weeks ago? (I dont for a minute believe Ukraine are the be all and end all in liberal countries, but they do not deserve to be invaded in this manner).

Chamberlain and other European countires had similar considerations to Hitler.

The point is that putin has had numerous chances over the past 8 years, never mind the past week, to prove his claim for peace, but he has done nothing to calm the flames.

Sounds like a good idea, especially to support a nato member state. Theres a mad man invaded the country next door.

With a bit of luck one of the Oligarchs will get so fed up they will put a contract out on Putin. These Oligarchs are very powerful and rich and I suspect they will only put up with so much of having there lifestyles being upset before something happens. What is the point of having Billions if you see its value depreciating at a rapid rate and potentially you not being allowed to do anything you enjoy for the forseable future.
