You have to get back from the moon once you've got there and keep us all informed about Banana. Purpose and routine right there (amongst everything else you do )

Ahhh!!! The moon trip. I should have been there by now. But the Moon sticker is in safe keeping with Trikey. Maybe one day we will get there.

Touch wood, as long as l'm healthy enough to hang on to my licence, l'm planning on working into my seventies. An HGV ticket & agency work should hopefully allow that as long as age rules aren't changed for vocational licences. I doubt l'd be doing five day weeks but you never know. Financially speaking, l haven't got a bed of laurels to lay on & l can't envisage just relaxing on one every day anyway. Sounds blooming boring to me.

Good health can be a lottery, but a successful retirement need not be. When retiring, many become lazy, others try to do everything. Neither is good. What is needed is a modicum of structure, good friends and family, and plenty of hobbies/interests. I always try to go to bed with a plan for the next day - doesn't have to be completed, but it gives the impetus to achieve something each day. If you are short on hobbies, try to get involved with the local community or charities. The time will fly - I don't know where the last 20 years have gone!

I retire in October, and i think i will be as busy as i am now, if not more so, At the moment , i work part time, but because of my job, i have to be up very early( 3am) to walk the dog, have breakfast , then sort my self out, to leave at 4.45 to be at work for 5, but finish at 8 now, because of budget cuts, they give me the bare minimum, but still expect me to fit 4 hours work, into 3, So will i miss it, no way, i can have a lay in, go out in the evenings, if its nice, I do have a structured day, having a dog that enjoys walks helps, as it keeps me active also, and i get to meet friends all the time, i have hobbies, that luckily are not too expensive, so i can cope on what i will get,

Default Retrying.

I did that 29 years ago thanks to a benevolent employer of 25 years granting me the wherewithall of a decent parting pension. Possibly glad to see my back. And then, at 50, I changed my hobby into a new job.

A stained glass artist/designer/constructor with proper premises became my making. That led to needing much bigger premises and the services of two self-employed skilled installers/repairers to take the load off.

That led to taking students, some of whom went on to start their own businesses. Wow, didn't expect that. At the same time, as an advertisement, I filled the shop front with dozens of imported (China, bless ‘em) so-called Tiffany lighting and left them on at night until midnight. See, even then, energy concious.

Then it was 2008. An inkling grew that we were headed for a major recession. So, after 18 years, a job that started as a hobby returned to its former status. And I wouldn’t change a thing. My work lies in places like churches, schools, and a certain Royal Signals officers’ mess hall (somewhere in England).

Moral: whatever retirement brings, do something you enjoy or think you will enjoy. It will be good for you if you put as much into it as you had to put into your ‘job’.

I took early retirement from work just over 3 years ago and still don't have enough time to do all that I wish to do.

My idea of the perfect retirement. https://thefinanser.com/wp-content/u...16/03/guru.jpg
