My wife had a green one for a couple of years. The car was fine but the rust was not. We sold it before any daylight started to show through it.---

The 623 GSi was a nice car to drive. My old boss had one but wasn't much of a driver. Any time we had a team meeting in London, I was always asked to drive. Pale metallic blue with a full leather interior and auto box.

Aren't these the models shown in great profusion in the current Blair-Brown TV documentary as minister's cars?

To give our younger members an insight into Rover 600 desirability when new, I was selling them at launch at the main dealer in Plymouth.
Compared to the build quality of a Montego, they were a huge step forward (basically to Honda standards). We suddenly started taking back BMW 3 series, Mercedes and Volvo in part exchange. But the best example was the sale of our first demo, when supply was still limited. Having advertised it, a Caribbean 620, in a national newspaper (ahhh, those were the days.....), I sold it over the phone to a chap in Bracknell, about 200 miles away, such was the demand. MGF and 75 were similar at launch, but as we know, the buying public soon move on to something newer.

Bought a 600 from Gary, a Cornwall member on here in 2016, great drive which I still got and bring out in Summer months. As previous poster said they go unnoticed by many, different if you own one though and when you spot one in the saddle it takes you back to when they were commonplace. Reminds me of that TV advert showing two 600's driving on a deserted road and lightning strikes just after they pass each other. Cars this good are few and far between, I think the ad said ( I haven't web checked it), but if true that's exactly what the ad men wanted for you to recall and buy, job done Years on, such a shame it's like that now with all MG/Rover models slowing diminishing from our midst. Is why I keep the flame going, now looking forward to switching between it and the 75 I got last week, best of both worlds.

Haven't seen one recently, but one of my favourites, had a 618Si in navy blue with stone interior prior to the 75, that was 22 years ago, it was a great car very well made and very reliable, drove it all over France and Yorkshire. I still believe had the Tories not sold British Aerospace (the then owner of Rover) and the Honda partnership continued, what lurks dear Pip...
