I have removed the outer handle with out a problem, But how the heck do you remove the key barrel and the plastic section that is attached to the key barrel that the cross bar is located in, It looks like "Mission impossible"

There are two small torx screws (notorious for snapping off) hidden behind the chrome trim on the outside of the door!

Getting the grey and black plastic bit off the back of the lock is a bit of a pain I'm afraid. You need to lift both tabs on either side simultaneously even then it's quite stiff.
Once you have removed it it's then possible to check the back of the lock to see if it's broken and also disassemble the grey and black bit to see if the cable inside is intact. Russ

Great pics, Steve
OP, sorry I didn't have to remove the handle back-plate so can't help with that. You did check that the cross-headed bar was correctly oriented in the actuator? If not, the two thicker tabs might prevent it from engaging on the handle back-plate side (even though it seems snug on the actuator). As an aside, I'd recommend that owners get on to Brown and Gammons and pick up a few spares of CXD100080 - these are the little white plastic clips that secure the rod from the exterior door handle to the latch mechanism on the actuator. Think they cost about a fiver each (better looking at them than looking for them). Cheers, Karl. |

I also managed to put my finger onto the cross side of the door handle then turned the key and there was no movement of the cross socket so I assume it is the cable broken..as suggested by Trikey. All I need to do now is get the part off

Ah OK, that's a PITA
Once the torx screws are out of the back-plate and door actuator has been removed from the door, is there not enough room to wiggle the back-plate out? I've only ever replaced the front passenger door back-plate (which has no key barrel), but I can't think what could still be preventing it from coming out.. I do feel a DUH moment coming on, though.. Cheers, Karl. |

Do you have all of the chrome handle from the outside removed. 1 2 How did you remove this key thumb chrome shroud, with out pulling outwards the spring clip i referred to above? 3 If both of the above have been removed then the handle inside the door should be able to be removed from the car. The points coloured are then popped open to reveal the cable 4 A few threads that may also help https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...89&postcount=1
