It was the thick yellow with red tracer wire Steve, and yes a main feed wire to the ecu.

Thumbs up

Been there, had exactly the same issue, got the T-shirt.

BigRuss, Marinabrian and Trikey diagnosed it, with the application of TOAF.

C0570-1 Yellow/Red 2.5mm to C0603-1 and C0603-8.
I believe it disables the CANbus et al.

(IMHO It may be the origin of the fabled crankshaft sensor failure error that many have suffered.)

Madamoiselle Colvert may have helped, my memory is getting hazy.....

Not with that problem

But the car is called Perseverance for a reason

My car is well acquainted with Chris's T4.
Nice one Chris

More than likely. Whilst the camshaft sensors do fail over time the crankshaft senors are pretty much bullet proof but get misdiagnosed.

It's more fundamental than that Mark! Out of curiosity I looked it up. It's the battery supply and main relay supply to the ECM. No wonder your engine wouldn't start but nice not to have to buy any new parts.

"What do we want?"
"More rights and respect for elderly people!"
"When do we want it?"
"Want what?"
