Wiring up automatic wipers
Dear All
BigRuss kindly switched on my automatic wipers and, today, I attempted to wire them up. I followed the wiring of the white plug in the side of the dash as per the great instructions on this forum, I wired up the earth under the interior light but when I went to plug in the pins, there was a black wire in postion 11. I was presuming this was the redundant earth wire. I depinned this and put the three other wires in locations 9, 10 and 11. Reconnected the plug and tried it out, nothing worked, including the self dimming mirror. Looking down at the male white socket, their seems to be a missing wire plugged into this end of the socket. Took out all the wires and put the black wire back in position 11 and the mirror started working. Any suggestions will be really welcome. The car is a 2003 mk1 Best wishes Bob |

Sounds like the plug in the A pillar isn’t populated for what you need Bob, I have seen this a couple of times!
You will need to run extra wires from the plus to the fusebox, bcu, and a couple of headers if memory serves me correctly, have a look on RAVE where it will show you where the wires need to go to. A bit of a pain to do, but not a terrible job.
