Default Just spent a small fortune on the R75

It that time of year and i have just spent £1000 on revamping the old tourer, with discs and pads all round and new brake pipes, one new caliper and a full service and two new tyres.....and getting the SRS light off under the seat, now off lovely.

I thought a car which is only worth £2.50......should i or should i not, then i thought I've had it from brand new and its so reliable and the condition is still stunning even after 343000 miles, So when you look at it £1000 broken down costs over one year its about £82 PM which would not get you a Suzuki swift these days let alone a Rover 75 tourer load lugger.

I know that insurance and tax is not on that cost list, but overall all cars have those regardless of age..... so i did it revamped it underneath rock solid anyway and on top of that its been rust proofed at krown twice in the last 4 years.

this car still drives like a dream and uses zero oil service to service... i might even calm down my use of her to try to not wear the darn thing out.... as some of the parts are getting none genuine MG Rover spec.
which this car always gets MG-Rover spec OE. however in the future its copies or not operational, which thankfully not the case just yet.

so this 20 year 2002 Tourer 260944 chassis number will keep going.

Well done. I bought my Rover 75 V6 2003 for £250.00 after my son was offered zilch for it in part ex for a four circles lump. I spent just over £1,300 on it before I put it on the road. Nothing seriously wrong with it, but the belts needed changing. Used it for the last two years, and only had one problem, ignition coil. Changed all six, and no further problems These cars are built like brick @@@@ houses, and will last for years so long as we have companies like DMGRS to help us.

Cool

Both of mine have sucked my wallet dry. But they both still live on.

He's getting there Andy, and I don't do the miles I used to.

As long as you are keeping the car then worth spending money on it - not that I do mind, mine is run on a shoestring budget.

Unfortunately high mileage cars aren't worth anything as demonstrated by a recent generous offer on here recently of a mega miler being offered for free, and as far as I know no one took it up.

I AGREE high mileage cars are worth noting, but and its a big but these seem to be the gems in disguise in regards to running them. When i went and picked mine up from MG Rover specialists they said to me, customers who were collecting their cars mostly MGTF sports cars stated oh you got a Rover 75 tourer in the workshop then! which the mechanic said yes we do all MG Rover vehicles here

to which the customer replied that's in great condition, can't have done much miles on that, to which the mechanic said, you may want to check the miles on the clock mate that ones been to around the world 13.5 times and still looks that good!
customer response Ruddy heck i hope my TF will look as good as that at that mileage!! mechanic response NOT A CHANCE IN HELL you own a TF not a 75!
THE BUILD QUALITY ON them is second to none from Rover.
true statement and even the mechanic said to me the very high mileage cars by definition tell you they are good, i said why?

he said if theres tonnes of miles on it then its been on the road and trusted to do those runs and of course it cant put miles on if its bust! LOL
I thought that goes without saying but he's right.

Pity you missed out - in time Bri could have had one of the highest milers and the very last Rover 75 to be built. What a pair!
