Wink Genuine MG Rover Factory Tax Disc Holders-Hens Teeth

Hello all,

I have been thinking about reproducing exact copies of the now rare MG Rover Group tax disc holders and rear cling window stickers.

The reason why I am telling everyone on here before hand is that to get these reproduced to a good standard (I.e non fading after 6 months) will cost a small fortune. So to gauge opinion and to see if any other folks would be interested.

We are probably looking at around £300 for 50 tax disc holders and around £60 for 70 window clings.

And of course with the added issue of the facelift and non facelift badges-it may cost double!

So to cut a long question short-could I manage to sell enough units to cover my costs? No profit wanted, just enough to cover the product and postage to members.

In the mean time does any member have pictures of the GENUINE items in question to show others?

Cheers for now

I will take two of each, let me know if it goes ahead and you can have the money! If you need a deposit, please let me know.

Do you have any examples of the original artwork of these items?

Hi Pab,

One of my problems at the moment is actually trying to get a picture of the genuine tax0 disc. I have only ever seen a two on cars and am still trying to get a picture of one. My car for example as a factory owner car would have had one-but I've never seen these on ebay etc. Google only throws up pictures of rubbish round things with pictures of a ZR or old logo etc. The type I mean is a large white shield holder with MG Rover Group in black text and the Rover and MG badge above. I don't think that these had anything on. The. Back or a card holder etc. Counting on a member having a picture of one-HINT, HINT!!

You may indeed ask....

Afraid that I like my cars to be look "proper" and can't stand seeing things like Halfrauds logos on reg plates or Autoglass tax disc holders.

Obviously nothing wrong with the above-but just not my cup of tea really

Default Do they look like these?

Both these are for sale on ebay. One at £2.99 and one at £4.97. Both are described as being simultaneously "new" and "used"

Is that better or worse than being "old" and "unused"?

I do like the look of the magnetic one and usually have Magnetax disc holders, but as the ebay ones are available for most marques, I take it that the original MGR ones are completely different?

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the info. Had a look but they are not the ones I mean. Was talking about the large shield style holders. Unfortunatly it is proving difficult to find a picture of one-hence the hens teeth title You may have to wait for my dodgy MS Paint mockup!
