Front springs - again
The inevitable happened this morning and front o/s spring snapped. I'm hoping to replace as soon as, but I can't check the car for the spring codes under the rear seat as I'm now at work (after borrowing swmbo's car). Are the ones from ECP OK to use (on a diesel)?
linky http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ro...dd47d7a&000073 I guess I ought also to change the bearings and drop links while I'm in there as well, again they'll have to come from ECP if I'm to get the job finished by Monday. Also any recommendations for spring compressors, will have to be able to obtain locally so Halfords or ECP I guess, any recommendations, or anyone local to Northampton willing to loan some? Thanks In advance

I got the rear springs Anschler for my CDT from ECP and they are doing very well. I'm wondering what's happening with the front spings on the 75's as yours is another one this week that had a broken spring.
I'm starting to think that I might replace mine before I have the same problem. I wonder if it's a problem with factory springs or ones that have already been replaced?

I noticed the Anschlers were cheaper, but I haven't heard of them before (not surprising really). I wonder if anyone else has been using them for a while on the fronts: £20 saved is £20 I can spend elsewhere.

Why not consider a set of these http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=176606
Will improve the handling and give a nicer side profile

Looks like I'll go for the Anschler ones then, If it was a ZT and I had time I might consider the lowering springs, but not on the 75.
Does anyone with experience know what sort of compressors I should be looking to get? I see even screwfix have some in under £20 (2 piece) and ECP have several starting at about £25 and rapidly going up in price.

Had my nearside front spring snap this morning. Just starting off rolled gently off a low kerb and bang. New tyre OK, thank goodness... Had it recovered to my local chap after the local Rover specialist said he couldn't help until Monday.
He'll fit a pair of springs supplied from Motex more than likely. I don't really worry too much what brand - as I know he doesn't fit cr*p... I'll see how it goes... |

Parts all ordered for next day delivery from ECP, tomorrow booked off as holiday (bored as heck at work at the moment anyway). So I'll pick up some plusgas on the way home and let those pinch bolts soak overnight and get cracking on it tomorrow.

At what mileage or age do these springs snap. I know its a common problem but does it affect every car at some point in its life. I have loads of paperwork for my car since the day it was new that previous owners have put together, but there is no mention of springs ever being replaced. The car has done just over 100,00 miles. Is it something I should be worried about.
