E46 16:9 BMW boardmonitor
Can someone seriously in the know be able to answer a question for me?!
I see a LOT of these on German ebay, some marked "Englisch" and some "Deutsch" It was my understanding it was just a dumb monitor, is there some country specific language settings that are in these units that means I have to get one marked as English? Some have no language label on the cover at all also! Am I safe to buy one from Germany and not have a bunch of settings I cannot understand? |

Get a free bump for a sensible question, I'd never noticed that before, so if one did come up cheap enough I'd like to know if there is a difference as well. Although I don't think it would be in the menu's etc. But in the way it communicates with the other system components.

Just a quick thought... have you tried the "ask Seller a question" option on EBay?
You might get the answer quicker that way and if they say one thing and it turns out not to be accurate, you'd be able to send it back. |

Arjen...
Im after one with the metal spring clips intact... you know the ones at the bottom of each side of the unit that slide in the little slots on the underside....Also one with a good display :p, but as I have a spare display, the clips are more important. Every second hand one ive seen, these little clips have been mangled to hell with people not knowing how to take them out properly. I know there is a new tape one on German Ebay for £250 EUR, but all the UK ones I see have "Englisch UK" labels on them, which makes me paranoid! |

Just checked the unit, indeed the left clip is broken. It was always a perfect fit by the way, never payed attention until you say now
If you are interested, I would be happy to let it go for 120 pounds. It's not the bordmonitor which is English or German or whatever. Your GPS-system in the back has the languages. So if you buy a MK4 for example, than you will have to pay attention. Mostly they can be set in three languages, English is mostly one of them. Common is English, France and German. Some have Dutch language or Italian. Advantage of the MK4 (BMW system) is that you can program it, change the logo and language for example.

I have recently replaced the Mk 3 cd sat nav drive unit with a Mk 4 dvd unit. Whereas before I had English, French and German as language options I now have French, German and Italian. Is it possible to reprogramme or adapt the unit so that English becomes an option?
