Air Conditioning
My MG ZT has air con which is not working.
Can anybody recommend a specialist to have a look at it,either garage or mobile,I am located in West Heath, not far from the old Longbridge factory. I would rather go with recommendations from here rather than using google search. Thank you. |

Hi Phil. Try coolcaraircon. I have used them a few times over the years. So has my mate. We usually get him to come to the house and get a discount for two of us. They have different franchises for areas, but I have never read a bad review about them.

Hi Phil. When you say not working in what way? it's not blowing cold enough, air con is not blowing at ie not switching on there is no cold air or even no hot air, is there gas in the system, is the front cooling fan working as it should? lots of questions which need asking before you just pass it onto a garage etc.

I'd also recommend 'Aircon John', he sorted mine a couple of years back.

It does not work on my latest purchase a ZT.
I’ll get the system refilled at a garage in Evesham after I have fitted a new condenser. They do rot but are easy to change. First part of the process is the machine does a leak test. If leaking, then it will not continue to fill with gas. My last 75 had a leaking condenser which showed up on his machine. Again, went away and fitted a new one and returned for a gas recharge. Gas is going up in price and last time it was £50. I suspect it will be £60 next time. I’ve booked next week off to do the condenser and a few other jobs.

The usual cause seems to be the A/C Condenser these days - we sell between 3 and 10 on an average week.
Once done it should be fine for 10+ years though.

When I had the KV6 from my son, I noticed that there was a lot of silver dust on the inlet manifold. Found out that it was the fins from the air con condenser when I changed it. Coolcaraircon came and vacuumed the system, held the vacuum for a while, ,no leaks found. Regased with the correct amount of oil and refrigerant. Tested it and it was giving me frost bite after five minutes. We got 10% off for having two done.
