Rear clamshell exhaust supplied by DMGR's
I tried to get this fitted today at f1 autocentres and they said they could not do it as my current exhaust is a one piece and they could not do it. Made a telephone call to another so called specialist in Heathrow but they only supply and fit will not put my own box on.
I spoke to Scott and he said he would send me an email of a fabricator in Wantage that would do the job, but no email as yet. Anyone know of someone who could do this job I would appreciated it. I don't mind traveling.

It's not a complicated job , just needs the existing pipe marking and cutting in the right place I would expect that any decent local garage would do it

My local tyre and exhaust company fit a rear box onto my (one piece original 20 year old) exhaust. They simply measured and cut the old pipe, then slid on the new pipe over the existing and clamped it. The hardest part was the struggle he had removing and replacing the original rubber hangers! Whatever I paid at the time was well worth it!

New hanger bracket (flat steel type) fitted the back box perfectly and had a couple of 50mm SS blowdown finishers welded on too - they protrude a bit too much so I'll have to do something about it later. Seems a nice/quiet burble and all really solid on new hanger doughnuts. The boxes are raw metal - no paint finish of any sort and to the contrary of what we've been told, I believe the DMGRS/SIAC boxes are stainless steel, can anyone confirm? |

Hello all!
Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme - most 'garages' these days seem to be staffed by fitters who are scared of anything more involved than a 10mm socket. The system is one-piece from the factory, and is designed to be cut when replacement parts are fitted - but a lot of garages don't seem to understand this. With regards to the metal, they're mild steel - but it's a high-quality metal (not the bog standard Chinesium) of good thickness so it'll last.

I went back to the garage today and they put the car up on the ramp to let me see the problem the cut needed is on a bend both have the same measurement 58mm, probably the only solution is either cut the flare off to bring it back from the bend. Finding someone to do this is not easy everyone I have contacted does not like the idea of not supplying the back box. Someone must know of a fabricator who woujl fix this for me. will drive anywhere.

Just a query but - I've had mine in the garage awaiting fitment since Mat delivered it many weeks back - my garage is damp at the best of times and all sorts of motor related stuff shows signs of corrosion fairly quickly. I carefully removed the two straight SS tip trims (and the 'metal' trumpet adaptors) a couple of weeks back using an angle grinder - the off-cut bits were just left outside and the silencer went back into the damp garage - none of these are showing any signs of rust at all? The silencer body appears to be very mildly magnetic but is otherwise just raw steel and I was informed that welding the two SS blow down tips onto the silencer stubs gave no issues. Does any of that non scientific stuff give a clue about the silencer body? Maybe time will give us more of a clue; would be a nice selling point if the material is in fact SS |

Having fit one of DRMGS's rear boxes I can tell you they do NOT need to be cut on the bend
