does anyone know if moving parts can be obtained for these pumps ? oil seals probably are available but moving parts that need replacing ? they have clearance tolerances i believe.

I asked No2 two son about pump spares and he said that he can't remember ever having to find any, he did mention that depending where the wear is in the pump, some can be re-furbished by a good engineering gear cutting company buy at what cost !

When I asked him what his solution would be, I knew what his answer would be, dry sump it,a lot of interesting work,

I ended up with a new pump spare and tried to flog it on E-bay a year ago. It was priced below my cost but there were no takers, most likely due to shipping costs due to my living at the edge of the earth.
After reading this discussion I think I will be hanging onto it!

thanks for replies. i wonder who were the manufacturers were. when you think in essence they would have included kia/hyundai/ rover/mg /landrover/ and probably more vehicles. i have no idea what pumps were used during the chinese run on these cars made over there., what is a bit of a puzzle is the fact that these pumps were on order with both dmgrs and rimmers until a week ago. has production stopped ? if so what has been said and is this permanent ? in the past subframes etc were suspended , but then a run were re produced. this was i suppose because all rover/mg models used these. it would be very doubtful in the case of these pumps to do a production run,as it only effects the 2.0 and 2.5 kv6 models. the same thing is happening with the steering pumps and heads by the look of it. alot of mgzt and rover 75 cars still alive out there but most now are diesel, 1.8 , or mk 2. mat at dmgrs has said that he would look into the P.S pumps fot the mk1 kv6 models , but i dont think the new versions will fit as, in a recent post the timing guard covers need to be replaced and other parts also. most people who read this will not be concerned as they dont own mk1 kv6 ..

Hang on to your pump rich. it will be a lifesaver one day. good job you kept it. i did think about selling mine to a member on here who is struggling to find a replacement. thankfully i did not. having done some investigating it began to dawn on me the gravity of the situation regarding these. none available abroad either in the E.U. i cannot find a recondition specialist who advertises over here that deals in auto oil pumps recon. its seems to be all industrial pump work. .... ..
