Nature Always Wins.
I'm not a photographer by any means and I only have a pocket-sized Toshiba camera but sometimes I take a photo and I think "Yea, that's not bad". The lighting is just right, the subject is interesting and/or incongruous, by some miracle I have managed to get it almost in focus etc. I think this was my favourite from this year. It probably wouldn't win any photo competitions but I like it.

I wonder when the last train ran on that track ?
Great capture. The best camera in the world is the one you have with you at the time

It's the Stoke-Leek line on the North Staffordshire railway and according to Wiki the last train ran in 1988. The bridge in the foreground crosses the Caldon Canal which is where I was on my narrowboat at the time.

It’s pretty unusual to see the track still there on a disused line.

Hi Vince,
I was drawn to your fotoe of th railway line and then supprised its not to far from were i used to live. (Second foto) Iv been down Consil Forge on many occasioins. In th 70's i did hay making near buy and when finished we used to go Th Black lion for Joules. A brew from Stone that was very tasty.. Th cellar as no cooling then but because it was deep and th canal close buy it kept a nice cool tempreture. Trains ran comercially in th late 60's (i can here th whistle now) to Bullers, a copper fabrication place. Just up to th left not on your foto is lime kilns built into th hill to purify it for smelting steel. Iv fond memories of th place and even camped there in my youth. This year i did a video of th steam train (i bet it wont up load on here). Ill add some scand fotoes i took in th early 1990's in a min. Thanks for th memories Vince.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consall

My black and white days at Consul. Planking off th old station. You after have a go at anything dont ya!!!!!
Back of th old signal box precariously hangging over canal. Th Churnet river weir that balances th canals water hight. This is just across th canal from th Black Lion pub.
