Default Crankshaft Pulley

Evening all,

My first issue with my 75 and I reckon it's the Crankshaft Pulley.

Noticed it today when my wife borrowed the 75 to go shopping that it was making a ticking noise, when she arrived back I went to put the car on the drive and I could hear it ticking away, so switched the Aircon off and it stopped but the moment you turned the steering wheel it started again, I thought it might be a load on the altanator but they seems to be working as it should according to my little tester I have, so took it for a drive and you can hear it ticking away even when stationary.

Having a look on the search on the forums it appears it may be the Crankshaft Pulley.

Try spraying water on the pulley when its making the sound, if the sound goes away then its likely the pulley is on the way out.

Corteco are the only worthwhile replacements in my opinion.

It may well be the pulley, but I had the same sort of thing on my ZT last year and was convinced it was the pulley, took it to a garage and they diagnosed it as bearings in the alternator, alternator was still working and providing the correct readings, charging the battery etc. They showed me, when you looked closely around the area of the alternator, you could see very fine metal dust from the bearings breaking up. They fitted a new alternator and it was good again.
