Default T4 needed near Portsmouth

Is there anybody near Portsmouth with a T4 that can help me out? I have a 2005 MGZT diesel that has had some work done & is running fine but the garage that did the work for some reason cannot turn off the engine management light no matter what they try, so I thought I would see if someone with a T4 would be more successful.

Regards,

Wayne.

What code does it have? If there is a permanent fault the light will not simply turn out

Yes you don't need a T4 to turn the light off - it should go out once the fault has cleared. T4 will help you find out what is causing it to light up though.

You had some work carried out - was it an EGR bypass by any chance, and is your car an automatic?

The ecu was repaired after getting wet & the egr bypass had already been done on the car before I got it. Yes it's an automatic.

So did the MIL come on when the repaired ECM was fitted back into the car? If so are you sure it was repaired and not replaced with a coded new ECM?

And does your car have a boost temperature sensor? It will be fitted into the large hose going from the intercooler to the inlet manifold.

Does the MIL light up as a self test when you turn the key to position II?

The reason for all the questions is that the later ECM, NNN500340, will light up the MIL if it detects an open circuit in the EGR solenoid circuit in an automatic car.

Was it repaired or did they just fit an ECU kit from another car?

If I refitted an egr valve could this extinguish the light?
