Default Zt alternator regulator

Hi all hope we are looking forward to the Easter break. I had the red charge fault appearing in the ipk screen. Checked it out alternator pushing 11.5. Looked at a few posts and you can buy a regulator be it 2 pin or 3. Mine is 2 pin so I purchased one and after turning my hands and lower right arm black and blue I removed and refitted the new one in around an hour. replaced battery and started the car charge fault gone but battery light still on .

Can anyone advise or shed any light on this problem.
Thank you
Jt

I had similar. Replaced the regulator and still charge light on, was the actual alternator that had failed not the regulator. Bought a replacement from eurocarparts and didn't check the part properly when I bought it as was a landrover part number and didn't fit (bottom casting is slightly different).

It's not unknown for the rotor to go open circuit on the Valeo alternators. If the regulator is off, you could check it using a low voltage and light bulb.

The rectifier diode pack is robust but can fail. Checking this is more involved and one really needs to understand how the diode configuration works.

I had my Valeo rebuilt by an automotive electrician with new rotor, bearings, regulator pack. It cost just under £100.

No Dmgrs have sent another to try that in case the 1st was faulty. Not really feeling this will sort it so it will be a new one.
