Does anybody have any info of companies offering free fully funded installation of solar panels through local councils? Just had mail that seems too good to be true.

Yeah we tried for that green grant about 3-4 years ago, The guy came out to make sure we had a south facing roof, had enough room for the minimum 8 solar panels and all seem ed to be going good until the inspector came out and said Nah mate, The age of the roof is too old & pitch of roof isn't right and that was that. There are the exact same house build/age of roof with rosemary tiles that have solar panels here

We’ve just had a couple of quotes around £10 to £11k. Unfortunately have to get planning permission first as property has lost it’s permitted development rights. It looks like a good return on your money and gives you some security of electricity supply.

Question

How would it give security of supply ?

When the incoming supply fails, the inverter shuts down.

Our solar power system operates separately from mains power, the two are not linked.

Certainly anybody considering this should check with the freeholder.
