Good morning Jeff and Ros, thank you for those thoughts. Had it not been for the dementia, we would have pulled out all the stops to get her through, but not being able to swallow was the final conclusion. Jessica's mum was born in Jersey and at the age of 3, her family moved out to South Africa as her Father was a Col in the South African army. He bought a farm there in the 1930s and that was where she grew up. Later on she met Jessica's dad, they got married and bought a small holding just outside of Nairobi in the 1940's, raised a family of 4 daughters. Several years ago, Julianne lost her husband after he was beaten up by robbers. He was terminally ill and dying from advanced cancer. The robbers then attempted to cut Julianne's head off with a machete during the robbery. She tried to get to her gun to shoot them, but couldn't get to it in time. After several operations her neck was repaired and she made a good recovery. The road we live in has an army and a police post and a gun fight ensued between the robbers, the army and the police. The baddies were eventually tracked down and shot dead. Julianne was from the old school of tough, but was very astute and was really very kind to all who knew her. She is now at peace.

Wow........sounds like a movie could be made out of her life .

So much turmoil and what an incredibly strong and brave woman to rise above all of that to lead the life she did

So good to hear that the nasty S.O.B's got what was coming to them !!

RIP to a truly remarkable person .

Thank you Jeff, it was a pleasure and an inspiration to have known her. Apologies I have run out of thanks. Julianne is expected to be cremated in about 2 weeks time on a traditional pyre. The end of an era. You don't know this, because there were no boys, Jessica was brought up to repair Land Rovers and all the girls had firearms training.

Hope you did not take that picture with your phone, risking a £200 fine and 6 points, its so easy to fall foul of,even parked up sitting in the car with keys in ignition you are liable.

Or looking at your rev counter the engine running,in the corner with the pointy hat on Jeff
